Just tried installing the AD Notifier (freeware) but the service it installs does not start, gives the following error:

"The Netwrix Active Directory Change Notifier service failed to start due to the following error:

The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion."

I've done all the pre-reqs for assigning rights and logon as a batch job, reboot the server etc.  Anyone seen this and have a fix?

Specifically what rights did you assign?  This error is very generic but there aren't many permissions needed to start this service.  Try the local administrator account on that box to isolate the issue.  It could be UAC as well if rights were given via group membership.  It could be .net framework 3.5 not being installed although im not sure if it would cause this symptom specifically.
