I would like for Netwrix to scan my environment for specific file types such as exe or msi files.  Is this possible and if so, point me in the direction?

Unfortunately the freeware version compares the state of files and folders in shares that are specified and there is no way to specify only certain file types.  If you want to give the trial version a try you could turn on auditing on only executables and mis files instead of the entire share and we would only see changes for those two files types but it would require a lot of configuration time if you had a lot of exe and msi to audit (unless they were in the same folder and audit flags would just propogate down).
