I create a new database on the sql server 2012 and get an error.

 

"Cannot create a database. Check your Sql Server settings.the account you specified does not belong to a trusted domain and cannot be used for Windows Authentication."

Make sure:

1. the account is not locked out

2. the password is correctly specified

What domain controller you have used to ensure that the account is not locked?

 

Try to use pdc instead, in order to identify run the command prompt with elevated rights and execute:

netdom query fsmo

 

Also check lockoutTime attribute and event id 4740 in the security event log.
