Hi

I've d/ld and installed the free version of the Password manager as it seems useful to be able to reset the 'admin' password on all remote PCs on our LAN on a regular basis.

I've installed V2.0.28.0 on a Windows 2008 R2 server which we use as a management server and indeed the tool works fine at resetting the local 'admin' password on the local W2008 box. [msi-vcc01]

Reseting password for account "admin"
\\msi-accounts: Access is denied.
\\msi-hope: Access is denied.
\\msi-vcc01: The operation completed successfully.
\\msi-ap01: Access is denied.
\\msi-ap01: Access is denied.
\\msi-ap02: Access is denied.
Operation completed.
You can select Reprocess from the main menu to process computers that have the "Failed" status.

But it fails on all remote PCs and servers in the Domain.

One would suspect a firewall issue but 137/8/9 are open on all the boxes.

Does the tool use any other ports?

Any suggestions pls?

Nothing in the logs which helps either...

Hello, David. Welcome to the NetWrix forums!

I see you're receiving "Access is denied" messages.

Double check the account and password associated with Bulk Password Reset. If they are correct and valid, the error message indicates that the account does not have enough rights to reset a password. It is recommended to use an account with Domain Admin rights for resetting passwords on the same domain (as the NetWrix box). If you want to reset a password on a computer from another domain, specify credentials for one of that domain's accounts.

All accounts must be specified without a domain or computer name:
account_name – correct.
domain_name\account_name – incorrect.

Also, the RPC service and Remote Registry service should be running on the target machine.

Please let me know what you find out about the account associated with Bulk Password Reset.

Best Regards,

Tommy

Where are the jobs for international workers wishing to get work permits in Canada?
