Hi,

I use this product and we had a service fail last night at about 6:03PM. In the log, I see the following generated every five minutes, as expected:

NSM.exe Information: 0 : [TID: 1, Time: 1/22/2015 6:02:00 AM] End server: 6:02:00 AM
NSM.exe Information: 0 : [TID: 1, Time: 1/22/2015 6:02:00 AM] Applying omitlist...
NSM.exe Information: 0 : [TID: 1, Time: 1/22/2015 6:02:00 AM] Reading Registry: Key=LastTimeNotification
NSM.exe Information: 0 : [TID: 1, Time: 1/22/2015 6:02:00 AM] Reading Registry: Key=NotificationPeriod
NSM.exe Information: 0 : [TID: 1, Time: 1/22/2015 6:02:00 AM] Time of last notification: 1/21/2015 6:02:49 PM
NSM.exe Information: 0 : [TID: 1, Time: 1/22/2015 6:02:00 AM] New failed service or server=False
NSM.exe Information: 0 : [TID: 1, Time: 1/22/2015 6:02:00 AM] Is time to retry=False
NSM.exe Information: 0 : [TID: 1, Time: 1/22/2015 6:02:00 AM] Failed Servers List Saved. Count=0
NSM.exe Information: 0 : [TID: 1, Time: 1/22/2015 6:02:00 AM] Failed Services List Saved. Count=1
NSM.exe Information: 0 : [TID: 1, Time: 1/22/2015 6:02:00 AM] Data collection and reporting completed successfully.
NSM.exe Information: 0 : [TID: 1, Time: 1/22/2015 6:02:00 AM] End notifier. >>>>>

It appears as if the condition was cleared after 12 hours had elapsed. Is there any way to modify the retry interval?

Thanks!

M. Clark

Hi Michael,
Let me expain what does Is time to retry={bool} means. As the product runs by scheduled task each 10 minutes it should detect when it should send you an email, by-default it sends email each 12 hours, this line shows if it should send an email or not. Please clarify what exactly do you want to modify, do you need to get emails more often?

It didn't appear as if Netwrix actually attempted to retry starting the services for 12 hours. The problem wasn't that it wasn't alerting us via email, it was the lack of an attempt to restart the service during that retry interval.

Michael,
If the service could not be started - the service put its name to the file located at C:\ProgramData\NetWrix\Services Monitor\Inaccessible Services.txt
If the service appear in this file - it will be ignored for next 12 hours. This time interval could be modified by following registry key: NotificationPeriod (path: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\NetWrix\Services Monitor ). Default value is 720 minutes, you can set it to 10 but then you will receive emails each 10 minutes.
